Daniel was the demolition crew. He helped us take all the pins out when the dissection was complete. Notice his manly band-aid, chosen for him by his loving sister. He is lucky to have such a caring sister! Because he'd given the camera back by then, Ben could take a couple more snapshots. Amy is deep in thought because she's taking a pop quiz about worms on the ipad...Where does an earthworm store food before it moves into the gizzard? What is the longest part of an earthworm's digestive system? The word dorsal means? How does an earthworm breath? How many large blood vessels does an earthworm have?

  • Decorating our worm pie.
  • The worms needed to be in just the right places.
  • The pie before the topsoil was added.
  • We love worms!
  • All finished thanks to the help of 3 little angels.
  • So, worm day was about more than eating pie...we learned all about worms and even dissected a worm...sadly, this is the only picture Ben took because not long after we started, Daniel borrowed the camera to take pictures of very important things, like the leg of the couch and the light on the ceiling...But Amy did do a fair amount of the dissection herself and David assisted by putting the pins in to hold the specimen in place. They didn't feel squeemish even though we'd just had lunch and dessert...

  • And another picture of the demolition...And not to leave you hanging if you didn't already know...The crop is where an earthworm stores food before it moves into the gizzard. The intestine is the longest part of an earthworm’s digestive system. The term dorsal, when referring to the earthworm, means towards the top of the worm. An earthworm breaths through its skin (if an earthworm dries out, it suffocates). Earthworms have two large blood vessels.<br />
